I happened by Morah Rivkah's Jewish Studies class to get a few Chanukah supplies and was surprised to see 2nd graders studying from the adult version of the JPS Tanach. The kids were deep in conversation about the Hebrew midwives and the Exodus story, but I had to ask a few questions. As it turns out, the students made the decision to study from the grown up Tanach with Morah Rivkah's help. After telling them that the act of Torah study is something that our ancestors have done for thousands of years I asked them to raise their hand if they loved studying Torah. The picture below says it all with one exception. After I took the picture at least one student raised his other hand and said, "Double-hand," with great glee.
