When a Davis student decides to participate in a team sport they understand that they will learn much more than the mechanics of the game. They will learn what it means to be a part of a team, what it means to represent our school and the Jewish community, as well as how learning the game really translates into learning life skills. That's #1. #2 is the fact that when they pass they ball to a teammate, there's strong likelihood that their teammate is someone that they've known for years. There's a strong likelihood that they received their first prayer book together, celebrated at one another's Bnai Mitzvah, and so much more. These strong bonds create the trust, support, and faith in one another necessary to achieve true greatness on the field.
Our athletic director, Loren Spaulding, puts it this way, "The name on the front of the jersey is more important than the name on the back."
