Josh Nelson and The Davis Kehilah

This week we had a special visitor at The Davis Academy for Kabbalat Shabbat, Josh Nelson. In his career as a Jewish musician Josh has composed some of our favorite Davis songs (at least those not appearing on our own album, Be a Blessing!!!). During his concert at Kabbalat Shabbat this morning Josh led us in his beautiful song, "L'dor V'dor." It's a song we sing at special times in the life our kehilah such as Kabbalat HaSiddur. Before singing this song Josh took a moment to reflect back to us how special Davis really is. In speaking to our students he emphasized that it will likely be many years before they are able to look back and appreciate what it means to be a part of The Davis Academy kehilah. Though he was with us for less than two hours he was able to see that Davis is a place where every individual is valued and that Davis is a community that brings meaning and joy into the lives of our students, families, teachers, and all who are touched by Davis.
