Guest "Morah"

The Hebrew word, "Morah," means "Teacher." Recently, Morah Rivkah, who teaches Hebrew and Judaics to our youngest children was surprised when of her youngest students decided that she would teach class that day. In retelling the story, Morah Rivkah proudly shared that the guest "Morah" continued even after class began and even tried to teach her classmates a new Hebrew letter. Morah Rivkah sat on the carpet with the other children and participated in the learning.

The question of assessment is an interesting one when it comes to teaching Hebrew and Judaics to young children. Moments like these tell a teacher a lot about how students are responding to the blessing of being able to study their history, heritage, and traditions in such a warm and welcoming environment.
