We are pleased to announce that both the Sylvia Breman Lower
School Library and the Edward H. Fields Middle School Library have both
received their advanced accreditation from the Association of Jewish Libraries.
The accrediting body noted the following: “The comprehensive and detailed
information you share demonstrates a true devotion to both Judaic librarianship
and academic excellence. I am truly impressed with your school as a whole
and your library/media center in particular. You are extremely forward-looking
and show great dedication to the needs of your students and faculty. You have
built a wonderful media center and continue to look for ways to improve it.
Your responses on the applications, and to my own questions, have been
thoughtful and comprehensive. You have clearly expressed the value placed on
your library/media center program, which is essential to its success, and
established the level of professionalism and resources to create an institution
that easily meets or exceeds AJL standards in all aspects.”
In order to receive our accreditation, we submitted detailed
information regarding the resources in our collection, the circulation rates,
programming events, author visits, class lessons, technology usage, our weeding
practices, our professional development, and our contribution to Jewish
organizations outside of our school. We are proud of our innovative approach to
how we develop our collection and value our relationships within the
Association of Jewish Libraries network. We are thrilled and honored to receive
this advanced accreditation.
